I found this partial post this morning in my WordPress account (the text in blue is the original post). Obviously much has happened/changed since writing this. No longer is Donald Trump our President-an election stolen from Americans using legal but shady election practices. Big in the news now is the horrible fiasco in Afghanistan, decisions made by our very inept President. Just who is ‘pulling the strings’ of this puppet regime? Some say it’s Barack Obama-who knows. And now the situation in the Ukraine. A nation that has ties to the son of our President, Hunter Biden, and maybe even to the President. It’s all bizarre and unbelievable.
The post I wrote was three years ago while Donald Trump was still our President. Since that time any political post that is not from the left is judged as racial or homophobic. So, I feel certain this post will not be popular and may even be censored.
A FaceBook post has prompted this musing. Someone posted the question, “Is America Great Again?” I was saddened to think that with all the positive things of a Christian nature happening in our country since President Trump was elected, that anyone would question his slogan, “Make America Great Again”.
It’s difficult to believe the ‘sewage’ that has been exposed during the last four years; the career politicians only looking out for themselves, the money spent trying to get rid of our President instead of serving our country, the corruption in so many of the agencies of our country and the lies of the mainstream media. It reminds me of an experience I had as a young girl. We had a neighbor girl about my age who was plagued with boils. One day she asked me to assist her with one on her arm. I was to pull down on one side of the small mound topped with a whitish color and she would pull down the other. I wasn’t familiar with boils and was not prepared for what happened. It was nice and smooth on top, a little red around it but when we pulled, the massive amount of ‘corruption’ that erupted from her arm was unbelievable and sickening. That how I feel as I learn of yet another ‘collusion’ or corrupt politician. It seems like once the door was opened on the darkness, the light has exposed so much more than we could have ever thought.
Our President, though a bit unconventional, has not been afraid to stand up for Christian principles; reversing the complete ban on prayer in school, participating in the Right to Life movement and calling out the corruption in our government.
Back to the present: And then, to add insult to injury, my very own denomination has gone ‘woke’. The United Methodist organization has decided to not only rewrite the Book of Discipline, which has governed our church for years, but to rewrite the Bible, God’s inerrant Word. The process to disaffiliate from this body has become almost impossible and extremely costly. Our church is waiting on our District Superintendent to give us a date to vote. He apparently is holding out to be spiteful after he came to our church meeting and was not able to answer the questions presented to him. He skirted every question and rambled on about things unrelated to the question. Then he told a colleague that we were brutal to him. It was not true at all. Everyone was polite and respectful as they asked their questions. It was painful to watch him struggle to answer each question.
The consolation I have is knowing my Sovereign God and that nothing is a surprise to Him. He raises up leaders and He deposes Leaders, all to accomplish His perfect will. Daniel 2: 21-22 tells us:
“Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.” ESV
So, holding on to Scripture and the truth that it contains, I can rest and wait for Him to show His mighty power in our country, either through restoring us to our foundations or allowing us to be enslaved and persecuted. Either way, He will be with us even through the deep waters and through the fire. Isaiah 43: 1-2
“But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
